Estimation of Outlet Mass Flow for a Mono-tube Cavity Receiver for Direct Steam Generation

چکیده
This paper presents recent developments on a dynamic model for a mono-tube cavity receiver for direct steam generation with large scale parabolic dishes. Simulations of the model show that it is possible to assume a homogeneous distribution of heat flux along the receiver pipe without loosing accuracy in the calculation of receiver outlet temperature. The model in its current state produces an estimation of mass flow at the outlet for transient changes in incoming energy and receiver mass charge based on measurements of outlet pressure and modelled fluid properties. Simulations show that this approach produces good agreement between simulated and measured receiver outlet temperatures, but it is not currently possible to model pressure fluctuations in the receiver tube. Experimental data form the SG4 500 m2 dish at the ANU is used to simulate the receiver and validate the results of the model.

In this study, mixed convection heat transfer and local and global entropy generation in aventilated square cavity have been investigated numerically. The natural convection effect isachieved by a constant heat flux imposed at the bottom wall and cooled by injecting a coldfollow. In order to investigate the effect of port location, four different placementconfigurations of the inlet and outlet ...

An experimental platform was designed and built for testing the thermal performance of a water/steam cavity receiver. The experimental platform was utilized to investigate the start-up performance and operation characteristics of the receiver. The electrical heating mode was chosen to simulate the non-uniform distribution of heat flux on the surface of absorber tubes inside the cavity. During s...
متن کاملA Modified Extended Kalman Filter to Estimate the State of the SG4 Receiver at the Australian National University
The temperature control of direct steam generation depends on information about the dynamic heat transfer behaviour of the receiver during operation. This information may come from sensors or dynamic mathematical models of the heat transfer process taking place at the receiver. In practice, sensors are susceptible to noise and calibration errors and models suffer from uncertainty due to inexact...
متن کاملThe Overall Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Double Pipe Heat Exchanger: Comparison of Experimental Data with Predictions of Standard Correlations
The single-phase flow and thermal performance of a double pipe heat exchanger are examined by experimental methods. The working fluid is water at atmospheric pressure. Temperature measurements at the inlet and outlet of the two streams and also at an intermediate point half way between the inlet and outlet is made, using copper-constantan thermocouple wires. Mass flow rates for each stream are ...
